Following the allegations from the Osun State government that some elements have imported fake uniforms of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, the State command said it has launched a full covert operation to arrest any miscreant planning to disrupt the peace of the State.

The Osun State Government, on Thursday, ahead of Saturday’s All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primaries, raised the alarm that some “unscrupulous persons” have imported fake uniforms of the Nigeria NSCDC and the Nigerian Correctional Service into the State.

The Commandant, NSCDC in Osun State, Emmanuel Ocheja, however, said it had directed a full scale covert operation to arrest any act of criminality by hoodlums, thugs and miscreants planning to foment trouble, create panic and thwart the relative peace enjoyed in the State.

This was made known in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASCII Olabisi Atanda, on Friday.

Ocheja revealed that the Intelligence and Investigation Department has been mobilized to embark on covert operation and surveillance to fish out and prosecute the hoodlums who are hellbent on causing chaos.

He, however, assured the Government and the residents of the State that machineries have been set in motion to clamp down on any impostor that would be daring enough to wear the uniform or any accouterments of NSCDC to unleash mayhem and perpetrate dastardly attacks in the State.

“We shall provide adequate security and maintain peace in the state at all time; the Corps is a neutral and non partisan organization whose good name, image and principles were built by dint of hardwork, patriotism, excellence in service delivery and huge sacrifice to the nation.

“We will, therefore, not allow anyone under any guise to destroy the integrity or progress of the Corps, but we shall continue to work assiduously to defend our mandate as enshrined in the Act,” Ocheja said.

Meanwhile, the NSCDC boss warned parents and guardians to discourage their children and wards from being used by desperate politicians.
