Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has held bilateral talks with his Tanzanian counterpart, Philip Mpango, on Sunday in Arusha, Tanzania.

Osinbajo is in Arusha to attend the formal opening of the 2022 Judicial Year of the African Court for Human and Peoples’ Rights.

The vice president would be the guest speaker at the inaugural event on Feb. 28 to be attended by leaders from across the continent and beyond.

The vice president was received at the Kilimanjaro International Airport by the Nigerian Ambassador to Tanzania, Dr Taklamawa Umar, Tanzanian Justice Minister, George Simbachawene, among others.

The bilateral meeting covered trade and investment, education, health, ICT, defence, among other areas of cooperation.

Nigeria High Commission was opened in Tanzania in 1962 while the Tanzania High Commission in Nigeria was established in 1971.

The two former British colonies have enjoyed cordial diplomatic relations since attaining independence in 1960 and 1961 respectively. (NAN)
