Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, pro-Biafra agitator, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has urged the Federal High Court, Abuja, to charge the Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, of alleged contempt of court.

Ejiofor said the Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court should endorse the contempt charges filed against the DSS DG.

He noted that failure to endorse the charges would mean the court is taking sides with the secret police.

Ejiofor made the call while lamenting the refusal of the DSS to allow Kanu access to his lawyers twice.

In a statement he issued, Ejiofor said the action of the secret police was contrary to the court ruling.

According to Ejiofor: “With the foregoing, if the Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, fails and/or refuses to endorse the relevant contempt forms filed against the Director-General of the DSS for the gross disobedience to positive orders of court, as he has done in the past, then, it will become obvious to the world that the Registrar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, is actively protecting the contemnors.

“Orders of court must be obeyed to the letter and must not only be respected, but must be treated with sanctity. Sadly, this has become a joke taken too far!”

Recall that Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor had disclosed that the DSS prevented them from having access to their client twice.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is being detained by the DSS.

Kanu has been in detention after he was repatriated to Nigeria from Kenya.

He is facing charges bordering on terrorism before Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court.
