Adamawa Government has approved over ₦3 billion in the 2022 budget for the three delivery platforms of the NG-CARES Programmes in the state.Chief Crowther Seth, the Deputy Governor of Adamawa, made the revelation in Yola, when he received officials of the NG- CARES Support Unit and the World Bank who were on a courtesy visit to the state on Friday.NG-CARES is a state operation with support from the World Bank to the tune of 750 million U.S. dollars credit to support the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).The programme also aims at mitigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable households and micro-enterprises in the country. Seth said the mission and vision of NG-CARES program were in line with the state government’s 11-point agenda, which include: Agriculture, Industrialisation and wealth creation, water supply, youths and women empowerment, among others.
He described NG-CARES as people-oriented, adding that the state government was on course to support such development initiatives through the delivery platforms of FADAMA, Community Social Development Programme and PAWECA.The deputy governor commended the Federal Government and the World Bank for the partnership, stressing that it has laudable potential of lifting the people out of abject poverty
Speaking earlier, Abdulkarim Obaje, National Coordinator, Federal NG-CARES, said they were on an implementation support mission of the program to Adamawa and that all the 36 states had gotten approval of N35.3 billion by the World Bank through the Federal Government in March 2022.
He revealed that Adamawa on its part received N900 million to enable its delivery platforms kick start the implementation of the NG-CARES programme.
