Osun Amotekun corps have arrested eight armed robbery suspects while trying to carry out operations in Ilesa, Osun State.
Amitolu Shittu, the Field Commander of Amotekun Corps, Osun, said the armed robbery suspects were apprehended in a hotel in Modakeke following a tip-off and intelligence surveillance by personnel of the corps.
Shittu said the suspects who were planning to rob a shop in Ilesa town, have been terrorising residents of Osun and neighbouring States. He further revealed that the arrested suspects who confessed to breaking into shops and carting away valuables, have been transferred to the appropriate authorities for discreet investigation and prosecution.
He said;
“The suspects were identified as, Adekunle Joseph, 33 years, from Iragbiji, Uchenna Alom, 42 years from Anambra State but lives in Idi-Iroko Sasa, Ogun State, Monday Nweke, 32 years, from Ebonyi State, resident of Ketu, Lagos State, Sikiru Kareem, 26 years, from Ikire, Osun State and Oyekanmi Maruf, 32 years, from Modakeke, Osun State.
“Others are, Adebayo Tobi, 20 years, from Iwo, Osun State, Ifeanyi Njoku, 32 years, from Ebonyi State and Olarewaju Emmanuel, 23 years, Ipetu-Ijesa, Osun State. They were arrested at Modakeke while trying to carry out an operation at Ilesa.”
