FIFA is investigating the 2022 World Cup qualifier between Senegal and Egypt.

The World Cup playoff ended in a penalty shootout marred by Mohamed Salah and his teammates being targeted by lasers.

Senegal won the match 3-1 on penalties to book their place in the World Cup in Qatar.

However, a bitter fallout has ensued, with the Pharaohs making accusations about their treatment in Dakar.

Egypt filed a complaint, which claimed their players, particularly Salah, were racially abused, had objects thrown at them during the warm-up and their bus was attacked.

During the shootout, Egypt’s goalkeeper and players had green lasers shining at them.

“The national team has been exposed to racism with offensive signs in the stands against the Egyptian players in general, and Mohamed Salah in particular,” An Egyptian FA statement said.

However, FIFA has vowed to examine match reports before deciding on the next steps.

“FIFA is currently in the process of analysing the official match reports of the FIFA World Cup qualifier match between Senegal and Egypt,” FIFA’s statement read.
