Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has inaugurated 432 local governments executive committee members of the All Progressives Congress from Kano South Senatorial District, as part of preparations for the forthcoming national convention of the party.
The zone comprised 16 local governments and 4,644 executive committee members from 172 wards.
This was contained in a statement on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abba Anwar.
According to Anwar, the event took place at AA Rano Stadium in Rano town on Saturday where all the elected party leaders from the 16 local governments and 172 wards of the zone were inaugurated.
“The Kano South Senatorial zone has more local governments than other two Senatorial zones. It has 16 local governments with 172 political wards.
“In each local government, we have 27 elected party leaders. So also in each ward out of the 172 wards, we have 27 elected party leaders,” the governor was quoted as saying.
He noted, “What we are saying is this, there were elections for our party leaders in all our wards and our local governments which saw to your emergence as party leaders at these levels.
He congratulated them for emerging victorious in their respective elections and in court, stressing that, “APC in Kano has no opposition now. You have to work very hard for the progress of the party.”
The statement said Ganduje also distributed 16 vehicles to the leaders of the party across the 16 LGAs and one for the senatorial zone chairman, which he said were donated by a party loyalist.
