Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the deployment of more security against to the state.
Gov. Uzodinma who was speaking after a visit to the President at Aso Villa said that while he discussed other issues with the president, insecurity topped the list.
The governor assured Imolites of his commitment to fighting insurgency in the state, adding that he cited the attack on the home of President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Ambassador George Obiozor to President.
“Consequent upon the recent uprising of insurgency in Imo State, which has been arrested by the security agencies, today I briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on matters arising while presenting intelligent approaches for long lasting solution”
“Concerned about the recent developments which directly affected the President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Ambassador George Obiozor, Mr President graciously approved immediate deployment of the suggested renaissance approach”
“We will continue to embrace and apply measures credible enough to sustain the peace we have restored in our society”
Insecurity which was previously predominant in the Orlu Zone of the state returned to Owerri with an attack on Owerri West Police State at Umuguma.
The hoodlums touched buildings and vehicles, killing police officers in the process.
Consequently Owerri, the capital city of Imo State witnessed the first Monday Sit-at-home in months with schools, banks and other business shut down despite calls by the state government for everyone to go about their usual business.
