Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has described women pillars and preachers of peace in the society. 

The Imo State Governor in a statement to mark the 2022 International Women’s Day, said that women have been at the forefront of th promotion of world peace. 

He said that his administration is doing everything possible to ensure that women are not left behind in policy making and implementation.

He also said that in hi administration, the house of Assembly has been able to able to pass into law, the Violence Against Person’s (Prohibition) Act, which tackles all forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

“In our dear Imo State, the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups has been working collaboratively with relevant agencies and the First Lady, my adorable wife, Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma in ensuring that Imo Women and their families are not left out in policy formulation and governance. Through their keen efforts and contributions, we have been able to pass into law, the Violence Against Person’s (Prohibition) Act, which tackles all forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).”
