The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, accused the Department of State Services, DSS of fabricating an intelligence report claiming the proscribed group planned to bomb the Abuja stadium during the World cup qualifiers between Nigeria and ghana.
IPOB said its members are peaceful agitators struggling to restore Biafra and not a terrorist organization that plants bombs.
Prior to the World cup qualifiers between Nigeria and Ghana, an intelligence report had emerged from the DSS that IPOB had plans of bombing the Stadium in Abuja.
However, IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, accused the DSS and the Nigerian government of trying to create confusion and panic in the country.
A statement by Powerful accused DSS of blackmail, saying, “The attention of the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) under the command and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been drawn to the laughable, disgraceful, fallacious claims by the Nigeria government and its security intelligence unit led by unfortunate Mu’ Azu and self-acclaimed security chief in Abuja, that IPOB wanted to bomb Abuja National stadium.
“The said Fulani security chief in Abuja has displayed his stupidity by fabricating the so-called intelligence that IPOB in the far Eastern region will attack M.K.O. Stadium in Abuja without knowing that his pampered Boko Haram, ISWAP, bandits were out to destroy them both in their homes and their place of works in the North. How be it Your nonsense intelligence does not uncover plots by your pampered bandits to attack targets until they carry out their murderous activities? Where was your ridiculous intelligence when FULANI terrorists successfully planted the bombs that destroyed the Abuja-Kaduna-bound passenger train, killing many and wounding scores after abducting others?
“It is very stupid of the Fulani-controlled Nigeria security agencies to think that IPOB which is peacefully agitating for the restoration of Biafra in the Eastern region will come to Abuja to wreak havoc. We are not mass murderers like most Fulani groups that derive joy in bloodletting.
“IPOB has no intention to launch an attack in Abuja or any part of the North. We also do not have plans to attack any part of Nigeria because we are not a terrorist organization. Our mandate is the peaceful restoration of Biafra and not the launching of attacks.
“Nigeria security agencies controlled by the Fulani and Northern oligarchy should stop making a mockery of themselves by using the name of IPOB to scare people. Terrorists have already destroyed the North. They should stop creating confusion and insecurity in the country especially South Eastern region and Biafraland.
“Fraudulent Nigerian security agencies are using the name of IPOB to create tension and confusion in the land. Shame on the Nigeria security agencies, especially DSS by concocting the satanic lie that IPOB planned to attack Abiola Stadium in Abuja during the World Cup encounter between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana.
“Fulani and the Nigerian security agencies should know that the world is already aware that Northern leaders are behind the bandits responsible for the killings and attacks in Nigeria including Biafra land.
“Fulani-controlled security should stop blackmailing IPOB with their evil intention to tarnish our global image and ultimately disrupt the genuine agitation championed by IPOB members in the world.
“The global world can attest that IPOB is a responsible, peaceful, and respected movement in the world not like Boko Haram, ISWAP, bandits, and Fulani terrorists herdsmen terrorizing the whole Northern region and the whole country.
“IPOB is a lover of peace and a good environment and our focus is the actualization of the Biafra nation. Our enemies cannot succeed in distracting us. Alhaji MA’ A.Z.U. should cover his face in shame for trying to blackmail IPOB. He is only advertising his ignorance and stupidity.”
