The Adamawa Government said it had achieved full coverage in routine immunisation across the state.Chief Crowther Seth, the Deputy Governor of Adamawa, disclosed this while addressing a team from the United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, on Friday in Yola.The team was led by Dr Omotayo Bolu, Director for Immunisation of the centre, under the U.S. Embassy, Abuja.The deputy governor, who doubles as the Chairman of the State Task Force on Immunisation said a significant achievement was recorded in the areas of Polio and COVID-19 vaccinations roll-out.” Adamawa government has recorded significant performance in its first and second rounds of routine immunisation exercise in the state.” So far , the state has recorded 101 per cent routine immunisation coverage.”The development was due to intensive supervision by the management support teams and the counterpart funds by the state government,” Seth said.The deputy governor commended the development partners for their tremendous intervention in the state.He appealed for more partnership to enable the state get additional projects to strengthen its healthcare system.Speaking earlier, Bolu said that their visit was to review some of achievements and advocate sustainable health care for people of the state.Bolu noted that the state had improved routine immunisation coverage from 33 per cent in 2016 to 55 per cent in 2021, among other numerous achievements.” It is a remarkable record that Adamawa has improved COVID-19 vaccination from seven per cent to 13.7 per cent, first dose and six per cent second dose within the last 50 days,” Bolu said.
