Award-winning American journalist, Brent Renaud has been killed by Russian forces in Irpin, Ukraine.
The Office of Ukraine’s interior minister said in a statement that the journalist “paid with his life for attempting to expose the insidiousness, cruelty and ruthlessness of the aggressor.”
Kyiv region police said this in a social media post on Sunday, confirming that another American journalist was wounded in the attack.
The police confirmed that the 50-year-old American journalist who was killed was ‘Brent Renaud’.
The Kyiv regional police also posted a photo of his body and his American passport as evidence
An adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, Anton Gerashchenko, said in a statement that Renaud “paid with his life for attempting to expose the insidiousness, cruelty and ruthlessness of the aggressor,” according to a New York Times report.
The New York Times have also reacted to the death of the journalists, saying they are deeply saddened to hear of Brent Renaud’s death.
They described him as a talented filmmaker who had contributed to The New York Times over the years.
