The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC ), Osun Command, says no fewer than 12 people lost their lives in various degrees of accidents in March.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Osogbo.
Ogungbemi said 33 auto crashes in the state resulted in the death of 12 people due to non-compliance with traffic regulations.
“The number of accidents recorded in March was 33, with 12 deaths due to disobedience to traffic laws,’’ she said.
The spokesperson said the Command was able to rescue 262 victims from various accident scenes while 464 traffic offenders were apprehended within the month under review.
She noted that officers of the command would not relent in ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.
“Any traffic violator will be made to face the punishment as stipulated according to the law of the federation,” she said.
Ogungbemi further said that the sector was able to give out 552 driver licences to road users, while 2,861 licences are yet to be collected
