Justice David Gwong Mann has been sworn-in by Governor Simon Bako Lalong as the substantive Chief Judge of Plateau State.

Swearing in the new Chief Judge, Governor Lalong advised him to resist any pressure from politicians and other vested interests seeking to compromise the judiciary in the State.

Governor Lalong urged the new Chief Judge to ensure speedy dispensation of justice in the State, especially, suspects arraigned for violent crimes, including terrorism.

According to him, “Findings have shown that lack of conclusion of some of these cases on time seemed to create an impression among criminals that they can carry out crimes and not be punished.

“It is our view that when such cases are dealt with expeditiously and those found guilty are punished, it will deter others hoping to engage in criminal acts.”

The new Chief Judge, while responding assured to serve the State with integrity, honesty and justice, pledging to do his best to ensure that the rule of law was adhered to at all times.
