Governor Hope joins other Nigerians all over the globe to celebrate mothers in Imo State on the occasion of their, Mothers day celebration.

The celebration which took place in all catholic churches yesterday had beautiful sights of children celebrating their mothers and husbands celebrating their wives.

Gov. Hope celebrating Imo mothers said they are a good source of inspiration to the society and plays a major role in peaceful coexistence.

“The love and care of maternity transcend beyond the moral upbringing of children, into a society that offers peaceful coexistence hence, the continued celebration of our mothers”.

Further speaking, the governor said his administration has provided adequate basic healthcare services to the mothers in the state and assured mothers of his support in all ramifications.

“My administration has adequately improved on the provision of basic healthcare services to our mothers thereby, reducing maternal mortality rate in our society and as well, the rolling out of Women Empowerment Programs, As a Government, we will continue to make life more meaningful to our mothers through the collaborative efforts of the office of the Imo State First Lady and the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups”

Further speaking after the mothers day celebration, the governor condemned the illegal activities in Ohaji/Egbema which claimed the lives of over a thousand Imolites.

“ I condemned, once again, the activities of illegal crude oil bunkering within our territory. The recent pipeline explosion in Imo State has thrown some families in Ohaji/Egbema and Imo State at large, into mourning. These are the consequences of criminality and its associated trades”

The gov. further stated that he has employed the services of Ebube Agu, vigilante groups, and other security agencies to deal with insecurity in the state.

“However, with the improved Ebube Agu, our Vigilante Group, and a synergy with the security agencies, our approach against banditry has been beefed up for maximum safety of lives and properties”

He pointed out his excitement as the independent electoral commission is set to start up operations tomorrow and urged Imo people who haven’t completed their registration to do so.

“Graciously, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has agreed to resume, tomorrow, the suspended Continous Voter Registration Exercise at the three affected Local Government Areas in the State. Our right to vote remains the only means of contribution towards national polity”.
