Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino has said that Sergio Ramos deserves respect after he was booed by the club’s fans during their match against FC Lorient on Sunday.

Ramos was seemingly booed by a section of PSG fans after stepping onto the pitch against Lorient at the Parc des Princes.

The veteran centre-back has endured an injury-riddled debut campaign at PSG since arriving on a free transfer from Real Madrid last summer.

The match against Lorient was only Ramos’ sixth appearance across all competitions for PSG so far this season.

PSG have just eight more matches left this season, having already been eliminated from the Coupe de France and Champions League.

Speaking after the match, Pochettino believes that the reason for PSG fans’ frustration was not specifically directed at Ramos.

“We are all affected. I think it’s the frustration of the fans for the result, I don’t think it is directed against him, he’s a great champion, and he deserves respect like all the players in Paris Saint Germain,” Pochettino said as quoted by PSGTalk.

Meanwhile, a goal from Lionel Messi and a brace each from Kylian Mbappe and Neymar ensured PSG defeated Lorient.
