The Niger State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, has called on the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) to as a matter of urgency effect all pending promotions of local government workers.

The union in a press statement signed by the state NULGE Secretary, Kolo Maigana said NULGE had written the commission last year during the October National Day celebration to intimate it of the pending promotion, last carried out in 2020.

He explained that key appointments of sensitive positions such as the directors and others should be made as there were many outstanding vacancies across the various local government councils.

The statement noted, ” inter appointments that are the prerogative of the councils such as desk officers, salary as well as salary cashiers, land officers should be left to them”.

It further reminded the commission that the issue of consequential adjustment of minimum wage and domestic servants’ allowances were yet to be implemented.
