China has said it will continue to strengthen strategic coordination with Russia, regardless of how the international landscape may change amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
This was disclosed in a statement released by China’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, CNN reports.
According to the statement, China’s Vice Foreign Minister, Le Yucheng, said this to the Russian ambassador to China, Andrey Denisov, during a meeting on Monday.
“No matter how the international landscape may change, China will continue to strengthen strategic coordination with Russia to achieve win-win cooperation, jointly safeguard our common interests and promote the building of a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind,” Yucheng said, according to the statement read.
Meanwhile, the war between Russia and Ukraine started in February this year and several casualties have already been recorded as a result of the conflict.
Russian President, Vladimir Putin, had ordered the invasion of Ukraine due to political differences between both countries.
At least 2,072 civilians have been killed and 2,818 injured in Ukraine so far in the war, which started on February 24, according to UN estimates, with the true figure believed to be much higher.
More than 4.9 million Ukrainians have fled to other countries, with over 7 million more internally displaced, said the UN refugee agency.
