Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema is closing gradually to breaking club legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals record at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Benzema scored a goal in Real Madrid’s LaLiga 6-0 win over Levante on Thursday night to establish himself as a Real Madrid legend and one of the best goalscorers in the club’s history.

His opening goal against Levante was a historic moment in Real Madrid’s history.

Benzema’s goal against Levante was his 323rd in Real Madrid colours, which saw him equal Raul Gonzalez’s record as the second-highest scorer in Real Madrid’s history.

The France international is now only behind Ronaldo, who scored 451 goals during his time at Real Madrid.

Benzema is Real Madrid’s third-highest scorer in LaLiga Santander’s history, with his 219 strikes behind the 228 of Raul and the 312 of Ronaldo.

The 34-year-old, who is getting better with age, has now scored 44 goals in all competitions this season, surpassing his best previous total of 32 goals in the 2011/12 and 2020/21 seasons.

The former Lyon star scored 425 career goals (323 for Real Madrid, 66 for Lyon and 36 for France), which makes him the highest French goalscorer in history, surpassing Thierry Henry’s total of 411.
