The Presidency has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari is ready to resolve the protracted strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said Buhari was ready to resolve the ASUU strike “once and for all.”
He spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, arguing that university lecturers’ strike dates back to several years.
“Buhari appealed to ASUU to consider the plight of those young ones. It shows that the President is ready to have this matter resolved once and for all,” he said.
Adesina disclosed that the President was seeking a lasting solution to the strike, adding that there have been industrial actions “under everyone”.
This is coming after Buhari urged ASUU to end the ongoing industrial action.
Buhari urged ASUU to consider the plight of the students and called off the industrial action.
ASUU has been on strike since February 2022.
However, the academic body on Monday extended its ongoing roll-over strike by another three months.
