Abia Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu has expressed shock about the defection of his brother, Mascot Kalu.
On Wednesday, Mascot dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Action Peoples Party (APP).
In a statement on Thursday, Kalu disclosed he received calls from friends, associates, political stakeholders and leaders seeking his opinion.
Kalu said he was surprised that Mascot and others launched the APP in Umuahia “without informing me”.
He confirmed that APC National Chairman, two Deputy National Chairmen and Senate President Ahmad Lawan persuaded Mascot to stay with the APC “but he declined”.
“Well, I don’t have any issue with my brother; he has the right to take decisions on his political future.
“As a democrat, I acknowledge his right to determine his political affiliation and wishes him well,” he said.
Kalu stressed that he remained the Chief Whip of the Senate and a committed member of the APC.
The lawmaker said he was more determined to serve his people and facilitate more dividends of democracy for them.
