The race towards winning the Federal House of Representatives seats has kicked started as the Social Democratic Party, SDP, on Thursday 26th May, 2022 successfully elected candidate for the various federal constituencies.
In an interview with newsmen after the Federal House of Representatives primary, Imo State SDP Chairman, Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu expressed confidence that with the quality of candidates that emerged after primary election, his party will clinch at least six (6) of the the ten seats in the state.
Okaforanyanwu revealed that what is needed is the capacity and ability of the candidates to reach out to the people at the grassroots with the message of their programmes for them.
He said it has been a herculean task to get the party to work according to the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the party’s guidelines, adding that the SDP will make her mark in the coming general elections.
Earlier during the final collation and affirmation of the results of the primary elections from across the federal constituencies, Prince Okaforanyanwu urged the candidates to go and conquer in their various constituencies.
He prayed God to guide and help them actualize the promises they have made to their people, stressing that the party’s symbol of a roaring horse, which represents the angelic messenger, will lead them to victory.
The Imo SDP Chairman thanked officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for their efforts to have a smooth primary elections.
In their brief remarks, Amb Godstime C. Samuel and Mrs Chika Veronica Nwachukwu who spoke on behalf of other successful candidates promised not to disappoint the party and their constituents as they will ensure the flag of the SDP is flown very high.
Some of the winners of the Federal House of Representatives seats include: Gerald Lebechi, Okigwe North; Chika Veronica Nwachukwu, Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala; Amb Godstime C Samuel, Mbaitoli/Ikeduru and Chidinma Okere, Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West among others.
