Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, has resigned his appointment.

Onu’s resignation is in line with the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to cabinet members with political ambition to resign.

Buhari’s directive was made known on Wednesday, at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.

Following the directive Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Godswill Akpabio, Emeka Nwajuiba, Minister of State for Education, Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation have resigned.

This decision was in an apparent move to avoid litigations that might jeopardise the chances of APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
