The leadership of the National Population Commission (NPC) met with the Nigerian Army on Tuesday.

The NPC sought the support of the military arm to ensure a credible census.

The Chairman, Nasiru Isa Kwarra led senior officials on a visit to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya.

Kwarra disclosed that the commission was engaging major stakeholders ahead of the 2023 census.

He said the calculation will give better demographic data needed to address security challenges.

Kwarra, however, lauded Army troops for their efforts to secure the nation.

Yahaya said census was essential for adequate planning and socio-economic development of the country.

The chief assured that the Army will provide security for government agencies to enable them perform their obligations.
