The Northern Elders Forum, NEF, has hinted at the possible demands by Northerners if a Southerner becomes President.

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Director of Publicity and Advocacy of NEF, said the North would demand to be treated better than how President Muhammadu Buhari has treated the region.

Baba-Ahmed said the North would compete as an equal during the 2023 elections.

“The North only needs to compete as an equal, and if Nigerians elect a Northerner as President, he must lead as a NIGERIAN.

“If it is a Southerner, we will demand that he treats us better than Buhari.”

He also warned that Nigerians should brace up to experience the absence of governance ahead of 2023.

He stressed that those in government would divert attention and resources from governance to politics.

“The nation will experience, even more, the absence of impact of the administration in governance, as attention and resources are diverted to election contests.

“Opportunistic interests will compound security threats. A living will cost more.
Politics will threaten our survival. Pray,” he added.
