Villarreal star and Manchester United target, Arnaut Danjuma, has revealed what Red Devils forward Cristiano Ronaldo told him following a UEFA Champions League clash between the two teams last season.
Danjuma enjoyed a fine season for Villarreal, scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances for the LaLiga club.
The 25-year-old was part of Unai Emery’s side that suffered a 2-1 loss to Manchester United last September in the Champions League as Ronaldo netted a 95th-minute winner at Old Trafford to break Villarreal’s hearts.
However, Danjuma, who was impressed during the Champions League tie, has now revealed that Ronaldo, who he described as his idol, told him he had a very good game and should keep going.
“There are loads (of heroes), but Cristiano Ronaldo is a childhood dream. He has always been a hero of mine,” Danjuma told Freshly Grounded YouTube channel.
“In the dressing room in Old Trafford (we swapped shirts), and that is when I got a little chat with him as well.
“He looked to me and said, ‘very good game, man, keep going’. It is just stuff like that, the small things that make a big impact.”
