Two daughters of Zakari Umaru-Kigbu, the recently murdered former Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC) have been released by their abductors.
DAILY POST recalls that gunmen had invaded the residence of the former Commissioner in Azuba Bashayi, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and abducted his children after killing him.
ASP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa State, confirmed the release of the victims on Wednesday.
According to the PPRO, following intense pressure mounted on the kidnappers who were hiding around a mountain in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of the State, the children were rescued by the security personnel.
He confirmed that the two girls have been reunited with their family after undergoing medical examination at Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, but could not confirm whether ransom was paid.
However, a source from the family confirmed to DAILY POST that N30 million was paid as ransom to the abductors before the girls could be released.
