Newcastle United are preparing a huge offer to sign Napoli’s Nigerian striker Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window.
This is according to Italian media outfit calciomercato
North London giant Arsenal had been touted as a possible destination for Osimhen as the Gunners are desperate to strengthen their attacking third.
However, Napoli’s £85million asking price for Osimhen has discouraged Arsenal’s hopes of landing the striker.
That could open the door for Newcastle who have been keeping tabs on the former Lille star for some time, with the report suggesting that the 23-year-old’s preference would be to play in the Premier League.
And Newcastle are said to be planning to make a ‘monster offer’ in the very near future.
It is claimed that Napoli would not drop below their £85m asking price, which may test Newcastle’s new owners.
Osimhen has a memorable second campaign at Napoli despite injuries and COVID-19 setbacks.
He scored 18 goals, provided six assists in 32 games in all competitions for Luciano Spalletti’s men last season.
Meanwhile, he is currently in Abuja with the Super Eagles ahead of Thursday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.
