Deji Adeyanju, a socio-political commentator, has urged Nigerians to be careful when travelling abroad.
Adeyanju said this while reacting to reports making the rounds that two Nigerians were arrested in the United Kingdom (UK) over alleged organ harvesting.
Reports making the rounds claimed that one Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu were arrested in the United Kingdom for allegedly facilitating the “travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting”.
According to the metropolitan police, “Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, (10.9.66) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.
“Ike Ekweremadu, 60, (12.05.62) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting”.
Reacting, Adeyanju, in a tweet on his official Twitter handle, said he would wait to hear more details about Ekweremadu’s issue.
He tweeted: “I will wait to hear more details about the Ekweremadu’s issue but people should be extremely careful when traveling abroad. When leaving Nigeria, I don’t even check in any bag before an airport staff is paid ordinary N50k to plant drugs in my bag.”
