The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, has shunned the state House of Assembly by refusing to respond to the five-count allegations levied against him by the lawmakers.

DAILY POST recalls that some members of the House of Assembly had last week Wednesday petitioned the house over what they described as gross misconduct committed by the deputy governor.

The lawmakers in the petition said that failure of the deputy governor to respond to the allegations within seven days will lead to impeachment.

The lawmakers unanimously said that they would give the Deputy Governor a seven-day grace period to respond to the allegations.

The seven-day grace took effect last Wednesday and lapsed on Tuesday (yesterday).

DAILY POST however gathered that the deputy governor is yet to respond to the allegations.

Our correspondent learnt from sources close to the deputy governor and some of the lawmakers that the deputy governor did not respond to the allegations within the seven-day period.

A credible source close to the lawmakers explained that the deputy governor was unable to respond to the allegations within the period given to him to respond.

“We did not see the deputy governor. As at today (Wednesday) we have not seen him,” the source said.

Chairman, House Committee on Information, Kazeem Olayanju, when contacted said that only the deputy governor can confirm if he has responded to the allegations or not.

He made this disclosure on Wednesday during two separate telephone conversations with DAILY POST.

Olayanju, during the first telephone conversation said, “You can only confirm that from him. You can only confirm that from him. You can call me back in the next few hours.

The lawmaker during the second interview said, “Presently, we are not in Ibadan. We will come back next week. We will call a press conference.

“Like I said earlier, the deputy governor is the one that is in the best position to answer your question.”
