The leadership of Gbongan Community in Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State have dissociated themselves from the attack on the convoy of the State Governor after a political campaign last Monday.
This is as they appealed to Governor Gboyega Oyetola over the attack after his governorship campaign for his reelection.
The community made the plea in a press statement by the community group, Association of Gbongan Progressive Elements (AGPE) in a statement on Thursday on behalf of the Olufi of Gbongan, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi.
The statement, jointly signed by Saka Owopade and Moshood Olaniran, Chairman and General Secretary of the indigenous association, disclosed that security agencies, after the incident, came to the town and combed, conducting indiscriminate arrests.
It said the security operatives arrested “even to the level of apprehending guests at a naming ceremony. At our own level, we are mindfully in support of the law taking its course.”
The stakeholders stressed that “the community had no hands in the mayhem and it was found that the crisis had no political undertones.
“We once again tender an unreserved apology to the Governor and the State Government for any embarrassment and inconveniences the incident might have caused them.”
