As a way of containing the alarming insecurity in parts of the country, 90 Nigerian soldiers have been trained in a specialised warfare course.
They were trained on the rudiments of amphibious and riverine operations to contain the maritime crimes prevalent in the Niger Delta region of the country.
Commandant of Amphibious Training School Calabar, Brigadier General Frank Etim explained that the training was geared towards developing the capacity and capability of the students to deliver the desired effect in all forms of Amphibious and riverine operations embarked upon by the army.
Special Guest of Honour at the Amphibious Training School (ATS) graduation ceremony of the Company Amphibious Operations Course 88/22, Major General Stevenson Olabanji confirmed the graduation and unveiled the new Lanyards and Plumes during the event held at ATS Complex Calabar.
Olabanji congratulated the students and urged them to remain professional in their conduct.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality of the training and appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for approving and providing all logistics and administrative support required for the success of the course.
The army personnel performed what they called Tower Jump, basic and combat swimming, and Amphibious Demonstration (high-speed casting).
The army authorities used the occasion to commission the seating pavilion at the pool arena and presented Certificates and Awards to the graduands.
