These is panic in Owerri the capital city of Imo State after a memo on social media said bus drivers will be embarking on a two days warning strike in coming days.

The letter which came from Imo State Drivers Association but was not signed has it that following the maltreatment from Operatives of ENTRACO, bus drivers in Owerri will be embarking on a two days warning strike. 

Part of the memo reads:

“We imo bus drivers association, all. Route and franchise, painted or not painted are going on two days warning strike based on the maltreatment we go through Imo ENTRACO.

All drivers should park their buses on these days being Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd of August 2022.

All route are to organize themselves to maintain the strike. 

NOTE: IT’S A PEACEFUL STRIKE. TIME 6AM”

The memo also warned that violators will be severely dealt with. 

In a similar development, another memo has sufficed on social media describing the former as content from a faceless drivers association.

The memo which which was signed by Silvester Igbokwe, the Imo State Chapter chairman of Commercial Drivers Association of Nigeria has it that the former memo was concocted by a faceless group being used by Hon. Uche Onyeagocha to blackmail the state government. 

The letter has it that drivers in the state do not have issues with the government and are also in good working relationships with the National Union of Road Transport Workers. 

“We state it out that ENTRACO of today led by Frank Nkem Nzewudo is entrance [sic] that is work”

“Their intervention on reopening of Douglass, Mbaise Road, Akwakama [sic], IMSU Junction in conjunction with Ministry [sic] Transport for a traffic free and putting smile on. Motorists using the road” 

Mr. Igbokwe in the memo hailed the state governor Sen. Hope Uzodinma for his good work, urging Imolites to ignore the first memo and move on with their businesses on the said days.
