Women of Amaeshe in Oguta 1 in the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Monday morning, stormed the streets in protest over the alleged killing of one of their sons, Kelechi Ogbonna, 25, by the state-owned Ebubeagu security officials.

Cladded in black attires, the women marched and called on relevant authorities to bring to justice, the killers of their son.

They also sought an end to the killing of youths by Ebubeagu security officials.

They specifically called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd), the Inspector General of Police, the Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodiinma, and the Amnesty International, to ensure that those who murdered the student faced the full wrath of the law.

The women leader, Mrs. Nkeiru Ugoagwu, while addressing the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area, called on the police to ensure that the death of Ogbonna was not swept under the carpet.

She said that the women were pained that their son was murdered in his prime.

Another woman who identified herself as Mrs Njoku said, “Our hearts are heavy. We are in deep pain. Let the government bring the killers to justice. We say no to these killings. The blood of our children are very precious. We are fed up. We need justice. Kelechi should not die like that.”

While responding, the DPO commended the women for conducting themselves in an orderly manner and assured that he would convey their message to his superiors.
