Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator representing Abia South in the Senate, has expressed worry that despite the level of insecurity in the country, no one in the security apparatus of the country has been sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking on Channels tv on Monday, Abaribe, who was among some senators, who threatened to initiate impeachment of President Buhari in the senate over rising insecurity in the country, said it is strange that “heads are not rolling in Buhari’s government since the security breach took place at Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja”
He said the Federal Government has failed to secure the country, recalling that on the floor of the senate in 2016, he had called on the Buhari government to expedite efforts to checkmate rising insecurity in the North East and other parts of the country before it escalates.
Senator Philip Aduda, minority leader of the senate, flanked by Abaribe and other senators, at a news conference in Abuja, demanded that President Buhari resolves terrorists attacks in the nation or face impeachment.
He said majority of the senators in the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, are in support of the position of the minority senators, who want the President to expedite action on the worsening insecurity in the country.
Senator Abaribe is of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA. He is among senators from opposition parties in the senate who issued Buhari a six weeks ultimatum to tackle the security challenges in the country. They had walked out on the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, after he refused to allow them to lead the motion on the impeachment of the President
