The Benue State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria has frowned against the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressive Congress.
The State chairman of CAN, Rev. Akpen Leva, stated this on Sunday during the interdenominational Church service held at NKST Church Lortyer located along Gboko road, Makurdi to round off the seven days fast and pray sessions organised by the State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria in conjunction with the State Government.
Rev. Leva also urged Christians in the state and the country at large to defend themselves against attacks by armed Fulani terrorists using lawful weapons.
He said, “CAN has taken a definite stand on the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC, we won’t support it, we stand to condemn it in this nation and Christians in this country will not support it, it is a slap in the face of all Christians in this nation”.
Also speaking at the service, the State Governor, Samuel Ortom, attributed his government’s inability to pay workers to the failure of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation to remit funds to the federation account.
Ortom, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, D Tivlumun Nyitse, thanked the church for its sustained support for his administration over the past seven years.
He also tasked Christians to rise up and defend themselves against invaders whose agenda is to grab the peoples’ land.
Ortom reiterated his administration’s readiness to continue to resist the reintroduction of the Water Resources Bill now before the National Assembly which he described as “an evil bill.”
