Niger State Executive Council has approved the sum of over N6 billion for the construction of 8.4 kilometres road bypass in Kontagora town, Kontagora local government area of Niger State.

The state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Mamman Musa made the disclosure while speaking to journalists on the outcome of the council meeting in Minna.

The commissioner said the road has been very difficult to access by commuters due to its bad condition, adding that the construction would ease the challenges confronting residents of the area.

He explained that in line with the terms of agreement, the construction of the 8.4 km road would last 12 months, saying,” it would be completed before the end of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s administration.

Musa also disclosed that within the over N6 billion approved for the project, those affected by the construction work would be adequately compensated to give them succour.

” The over N6 billion approved covers the real construction work and compensation to those affected by the project to enhance their livelihood. Construction of the road will make movement easy and give succour to commuters plying it considering the difficulty being experienced presently. It will also help to boost economic activities in Kontagora, the state and Nigeria as a whole,” he noted.
