Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has raised an alarm that the country is under siege ahead of the 2023 general election.

Ortom, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, also urged all political parties in the country to work together and rescue Nigeria from a ‘cabal’ that doesn’t mean well for the country.

The governor spoke on Arise TV on Thursday morning.

He said, “Nigeria is under siege. There is a cabal that doesn’t mean well for Nigeria.

“So we need all hands to be on deck and every other people in other political parties to see how we can rescue our country, Nigeria.”

This is coming less than 24 hours after Ortom returned to Nigeria following a two-week work leave in the United Kingdom, UK, and the United States of America, USA.

The governor had, during his visit to the United States, called on the American government and the international community in general to hold President Muhammadu Buhari and his government responsible for the killings in Nigeria.

Ortom made the call at the State Department, Washington DC, while interacting with its officials.

He also accused Fulani herdsmen of being used as an instrument to wipe out farmers from their ancestral lands.
