The Osun State Government has declared Friday, as a public holiday to commemorate the new Islamic year, Hijrah 1444 AH.

This is contained in a press release issued and signed by the state Commissioner for Special Duties, Olalekan Badmus who is also the Supervising Commissioner for the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Commissioner enjoined all Muslims in the state to pray for the continued peace and progress of the state under the leadership of Gboyega Oyetola.

Badmus urged residents to engage in spiritual soul searching in line with the essence of the occasion as exemplified by the virtues of the holy prophet of Allah, Muhammad, while on earth.
