Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell is confident Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo will join Premier League newly promoted side Nottingham Forest.
Aribo is known to be on the shortlist of a few clubs in the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest believed to be linked with him.
A move for Joe Aribo is very likely over the coming weeks, with a contractual fee of around £10million said to be the selling point.
The former Charlton star was massive for Rangers last season, as he helped them win the Scottish Cup and reach the Europa League final.
Speaking to Football Insider Campbell, who played for Nottingham Forest and helped Arsenal win the English League, FA Cup, League Cup and the Cup Winners’ Cup, believes Rangers cannot hold on to Aribo for long.
“We are talking Premier League football here though. Financially, Rangers cannot compete. That is unfortunately the case. That is the way life is. Aribo has gone up there and won his trophies. He’s had that success. Nottingham Forest are a massive draw. It is a beautiful city.
“Steve Cooper could develop him and that might entice him. It is an exciting project at Forest.
“With the money we are talking about, I think it might materialise. I think it would turn his head a little.”
Aribo played for Staines Town under Marcus Gayle in the Isthmian League Premier Division, winning the club’s academy player of the year award in April 2014.
Aribo joined Charlton Athletic in September 2015 following a successful trial, and signed a one-year contract in May 2016.
He made his first-team debut as a 62nd-minute substitute for Andrew Crofts in a 2–0 defeat to Crawley Town in an EFL Trophy group stage match on 16 October 2016.
His EFL League One debut came on 17 December in a 2–0 home loss to Peterborough United as a 70th-minute replacement for Fredrik Ulvestad, and six days later he extended his contract until 2019.
