The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, Mr Ayuba N. Elkanah has presented the sum of two million, five hundred thousand naira to families of five late police officers who died in active service.

According to a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital by the command’s spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu, the presentation of the cheques was in continuation of the IGP’s welfare Insurance scheme to families of deceased Police officers.

The CP was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Olubenga Adepoju.

“The Commissioner of Police appreciates the Inspector General of Police for his concern for the welfare of Police officers.

“The CP described the gesture as timely and it will go along way in alleviating the suffering being faced by families of deceased police officers and further assures the IGP that officers and men of the command will continue to put in their best in the discharge of their duty for sustained peace, security and safety of Zamfara State,” he said.

According to the statement, the commissioner of police charged the beneficiaries to utilize the money judiciously, noting that, “in the last 10 months, the Command had received similar cheques from the Inspector General of Police ten times and presented same to the beneficiaries.”

One of the benefiting families, Favor Peter, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked the Inspector General of Police for the gesture and promised to use the money judiciously.
