The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command has denied claims that the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) fighters recently invaded the nation’s capital.

Reports had emerged online that the Karshi community was invaded by the terrorists to attack a journalist.

Reacting, the FCT command in a statement issued by its spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh debunked the report, describing it as fake news.

The command’s image maker condemned the “erroneous” publication circulating in some sections of the media suggesting an attack on the outskirts of the territory.

“The news is baseless on all fronts as the said journalist refuted all highlighted parts maliciously amplified to suggest a terrorist invasion. Preliminary investigation also shows that nothing of such happened in the mentioned area and the FCT as a whole”.

The PPRO urged residents of the city to go about their lawful activities without any fear of attack, assuring them of the command’s commitment to ensure the protection of lives and properties in Abuja.
