The Social Democratic Party’s House of Representatives candidate in Kaduna State, Bilal Adamu Halilu, has urged voters not to sell their votes in the forthcoming general elections across the country.
Instead, Halilu said voters should elect credible candidates to help address the current socio-economic and security challenges bedeviling the country.
The Kaduna South Federal Constituency candidate, who stated this at the inauguration of his campaign team in Kaduna, also decried the high cost of politicking in the country.
He noted that the expensive nature of politicking had, over the years, forced genuine politicians from participating for elective offices.
This, he added, had rid the nation’s political space of patriotic politicians.
Halilu said that the SDP presidential candidate, Adewale Adebayo, has the key to fixing Nigeria’s socio-economic and security challenges in 2023.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to jettison the thought of bringing another “recycled politician” to head the country in 2023.
He added, “Our party anchors her program on the general welfare of the citizens, education, robust and effective housing scheme, security of lives and property and economy which will be given priority.
“Our presidential flag bearer is a man of immense integrity and passion to move this nation forward by solving our numerous problems which are governance-based.
“We can never move forward recycling these politicians who are responsible for our retrogression and underdevelopment.
“It is high time we tried new people in the driving seats of governance to avoid repeating our mistakes over and over again.
“We must ensure that our tormentors who have led us into these problems that have made life difficult for the majority of Nigerians are not given another chance to continue punishing the masses.”
