A Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bright Edafe, has criticized Nigerian security operatives that cash in on drivers’ faults.

Edafe is the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command.

In a Twitter post on Tuesday, the image maker admonished personnel who wait for motorists to make errors so as to extort them.

“This message goes to all of us who perform security tasks on the road, especially those that major in traffic duties.

“We should stop the habit of finding faults on road users, just waiting for someone to make a mistake and cash in on them”, Edafe wrote.

The spokesman added that the right thing to do is correct and caution motorists. Nigerians are commending him for the tweet.

@musacongo: “God will bless you sir for this post, I keep asking myself why Lagos police are always waiting for you to commit offense on the road instead of correcting you that you are on the wrong track.”

@mcokposo: “The very nice way forward, that’s why most times road users don’t want to stop for some of our sister’s agencies, this will help if it can be adopted, though that doesn’t mean the law will relax but a way for people to comply.”
