Some unknown gunmen have again attacked a Taraba community, killing no fewer than three persons with several others abducted.

The incident took place in Bali, the administrative headquarters of Bali local government council, on Sunday night.

The gunmen stormed the town on motorbikes and were said to have earlier killed personnel of the Taraba Marshal in one of the checkpoints before proceeding to unleash terror on the people.

Confirming the report, the chief of the Tiv community in the council, Zaki David Gbaa, said two of his subjects were also killed by the attackers.

Admitting that scores of persons, the majority of whom he said are women, were abducted, he urged the government to come to their aid.

Stressing that “two of my subjects were killed in the attack and two others injured”, he said the gunmen stormed the town at about 11 p.m on Sunday night.

The monarch said the injured persons are presently being treated in one of the hospitals in the council.

“For over four hours, the bandits held the town shooting sporadically and there was no response from security agencies.

“People are losing hope in the government’s ability to protect them and I think the bandits are not more than our security agencies,” the monarch said.

He also pleaded with the government to extend the much-desired helping hands to those that were injured.

Aligning their weights to that of the monarch, other members of the council who spoke with DAILY POST, said the situation has continued to cause apprehension in the area hence the need for the government to fashion ways of bringing to an end the incessant invasion of bandits in the area.

It would be recalled that several worshippers, were during the last Muslim Ramadan abducted from mosques by bandits in the same local government council.
