Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has hailed the club’s summer signing, Tyrell Malacia, comparing him to the Red Devils legend Patrice Evra.
Ferdinand said this after Malacia shone on his first start for Man United against Liverpool on Monday.
Malacia had found himself behind teammate, Luke Shaw in the pecking order for the opening first two games of the season.
But after impressing off the bench against Brentford, Malacia was given the nod to play ahead of Shaw at Old Trafford against Liverpool and did not disappoint as Man United won 2-1.
“Malacia was tremendous, outstanding. The whole back four were brilliant,” Ferdinand told the Vibe With FIVE podcast.
“He reminds me of Patrice Evra in many ways. He is athletic, he looks like a pound-for-pound strong kid. There are not many left-backs in European or world football in the last four or five years who have gone out of a game and kept Mohamed Salah quiet.”
