Popular rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has blamed the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Yesufu said Atiku’s inability to manage the PDP was responsible for the crisis rocking the party.

She said Atiku, who can’t manage the PDP, cannot be trusted to unify Nigeria.

Yesufu said Atiku’s constitution of a 17-member committee to pick his running mate after the party’s presidential primary was responsible for the disunity in the party.

Atiku had fallen out with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over the decision to pick Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate.

The committee instituted by Atiku had recommended Wike as the party’s running mate.

Atiku’s decision had thrown the party into chaos, with Wike and other party members demanding the resignation of the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, for his alleged role.

However, Yesufu, in a Twitter video on Friday, said: “Atiku should not have constituted the committee since he knew he wouldn’t follow its recommendation. He couldn’t even call Wike to inform him of his development. This has caused more problem in the party.

“This is telling you he is someone who can’t even manage his party, and here we are talking about him unifying Nigeria. How possible? If he has the required leadership skills, he should be able to deal with people in order to make them feel validated.”
