A 30-year-old man, Nyime Nbride, has been remanded by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old daughter.

Nbride was charged with defilement, sexual assault, and indecent treatment of a child.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, did not take the defendant’s plea for want of jurisdiction.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, had earlier told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 22.

According to Ajayi, the girl’s mother reported the case at the police station, and the victim confirmed that she had been molested by her father more than once in his room.

The prosecutor said the offence contravenes the provisions of Sections 135, 137, and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
