Ekiti State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye has expressed the readiness of the state government to ensure adequate security in all public primary and secondary schools in the State.

She made this known while playing host to the Nigeria Civil Defense Corps (female squared), Ekiti State Command in her office in Ado Ekiti.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mrs Folakemi Olomojobi, charged the security agency to be alive to its responsibilities for the safety of lives and property in public schools across the state.

The Commissioner said some schools in Ado township are facing a lot of security challenges, stressing that with the advent of the team in collaboration with the initial measure put in place, the security challenge will be laid to rest and the environment will be educational friendly for the pupils and teachers in the school.

She, however, stressed that security challenges can only be curbed when all hands are on deck.

In her remarks, Chairman Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Fola Richie Aderanti encouraged stakeholders to work hand in hand to make the public schools violence-free across the state.

The TESCOM boss also advised the NCDC Female Squad to work in collaboration with other security agencies to achieve the set goal.

Earlier, the Chairman Board for Technical and Vocational Education, Kayode Babade appreciated the Squad for their action which come at the needed time to save the future leaders and government properties at the same time.

He explained that the time has come for the state government to make use of the “child rights act”.

Mr. Oluwadare Ajayi, Permanent Secretary State Universal Basic Education Board also described the visit of the Squad as a round peg in a round hole.

He also charged the security personnel to make some schools in Ado township which are facing great security challenges a case study. He explained that though security measure has been in place since the inception of insecurities across the nation, this will also complement the initial effort of other security corps.

Responding, Commandant Olabisi Owoola said the Squad was ready to tackle any insecurity in the public schools in Ekiti State and emphasized that they’ve put all measures in place to achieve their aim and objective.

Owoola said surveillance is in place in all the public schools for an immediate report on criminal acts or any form of breakdown of law and order.

She also explained that her team has also concluded plans to embark on security talks with schools’ PTAs and also to educate students on the needed security strategies that may save them in cases of emergency.
