The federal government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Nigerians travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to be guided by the new visa regime introduced by the UAE government. With the new visa regime, the UAE has stopped issuing tourist visas to persons under the age of 40 years, except for those applying with their family.

She mentioned that the UAE authorities recently released new guidelines for visa applications for certain age categories. She said many Nigerians now try to circumvent the guidelines by applying for “ family visas”. She said they get the visas and travel alone and then get turned back at the airport.

She also mentioned that six months genuine bank statement,accommodation as well as return ticket must be produced but that some Nigerians do not provide these on arrival and are turned back.
